In this song, Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee finds herself alone, wondering if someone is missing her. Fans have interpreted the song as being about a painful breakup or even a death, and while Lee encourages listeners to find their own meanings, she did have something specific in mind. "For me that song was all about running away," she told Vampire Freaks. "But its poetry so please do take from it what you can."
Evanescence released the song in 2004 as part of their live album Anywhere But Home; it's the only studio recording on the set. The song was written earlier though, composed by Amy Lee with band co-founder Ben Moody and with David Hodges, who joined in 1999. Both had left the band by the time the album was issued. The group had broken through with their 2003 album Fallen, which includes the hits "Bring Me To Life" and "My Immortal." Their next studio album, The Open Door, didn't appear until 2006, with Hodges and Moody replaced with four other musicians.
