This ode to fame and debauchery features Drake's mentor Lil Wayne. Drake's right-hand man Noah "40" Shebib told MTV News that, Weezy who was executive producer for Take Care, gave them complete creative freedom on the album: "He trusts us enough to take chances; he'll go there with his raps," he said. "Not just getting on the song, but he'll participate [in the song's theme]. On 'HYFR,' he'll show that introspective side of himself along with Drake. That's amazing, and those are some of Wayne's illest moments, always have been for him."
The song title stands for "hell yeah fu--in' right," which apparently is something Weezy and Drake yell at journalists who ask dumb questions.
The tune's rock-influenced platform was delivered by Tyler "T-Minus" Williams, whose previous productions include Lil Wayne's "She Will" and DJ Khaled's "I'm on One," (both featuring Drake).
