Kane Brown was raised mostly by his mother and grandparents in rural northwest Georgia and the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. His father is black and part Cherokee, and his mom is white.
Instead of lullabies, his mom sang her son Shania Twain and Sugarland. "I was a mama's boy," Kane Brown recalled to Billboard magazine, "so I was just like, 'I want to sing like you.'"
Kane Brown has known Lauren Alaina since they both attended Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, in their native Georgia. They were in the choir together after Alaina heard Brown humming. She coaxed him into singing and persuaded her shy classmate that he had a good voice.
