The rapping on this track was done by the Southern Hip-Hop artist Petey Pablo. "Goodies" was penned as a female answer song to Pablo's hit "Freek-a-Leek."
This was the second-biggest selling single in the UK in 2005 and held the #1 position in the Billboard 100 singles chart for 7 weeks.
With this track, Ciara became the first female artist to record a crunk song. Hip-Hop producer Lil' Jon, who helmed this track, explained in publicity materials for Goodies: "Crunk & B songs are R&B songs that get you crunk. They make you wanna wild out." He added that this song "is a female-empowerment record. The female has the power. The female is in control on this song. This is one of those records for the ladies."
