The middle-aged male producers talked over Sigrid, patronized her and made rude comments. The teenage Norwegian singer told The Daily Telegraph that she's glad she'd found a way to put her anger at the men in that session to good use. "That I didn't speak up and say, 'F--- this, you can't treat me this way'; that p----- me off even more than the fact they weren't behaving nicely," Sigrid said. "I thought I was the type of person to say something. But it's difficult, being a girl, to know when you're over-reacting and when you should speak up. And a young girl, as well. I've got the age and the sex [against me]"

This proved to be a breakthrough song for Sigrid. NME asked her if she anticipated the track's massive success. She replied: "I didn't expect it to go as far as it's gone and to give me so many opportunities, but I knew that it was a special song. I knew the minute I got out of the studio that it would be an important song for me. I just didn't know at what scale. One: it was a song that I couldn't get out of my head. Two: it has an important message. And three: I loved it – I couldn't get away from it. The song is about not being respected for who you are and I think that has particular resonance to younger people. I get so many people telling me: 'I really see myself in this song.'"
