Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about New Slang (When You Notice The Stripes). By Songfacts®.

This song is about one person telling another how perfect things would be if they had began a romantic relationship.

This is one of the most well known songs by The Shins, most likely because it was featured on the soundtrack to the 2004 movie Garden State, starring Zach Braff (Scrubs) and Natalie Portman (Star Wars Episodes I,II & III). The song "Caring Is Creepy" from the same album is also featured on the Garden State soundtrack.

This was used in a McDonald's commercial, which is ironic since it contains the lyrics, "When you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries" and "Godspeed all the bakers at dawn, may they cut all their thumbs and bleed into the buns till they melt away."
