Owl City is an electronica/pop project of Minnesota native Adam Young. He explained to Female First that this song, "is about swimming class in junior high."
This song first appeared on Owl City's debut album Maybe I'm Dreaming in 2008. It was re-worked for Ocean Eyes.
The song features guest vocals from keyboardist/singer Breanne Duren, who knew Young pre-MySpace fame. Duren released her own EP called Sparks in 2011.
