This is the opening track of American Nu Metal band Korn's tenth studio album, The Path Of Totality. The group recorded the album with various Dubstep and Electro house producers in frontman Jonathan Davis's Bakersfield, California home studio. Guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer explained that they had not initially planned to create a full Dubstep album, but had been convinced when they shifted 150,000 copies of their initial recording with Los Angeles producer Skrillex. "'Get Up' started as a bit of an experiment", he said. "But we had such an amazing response from our fans and had such a great time collaborating that a full album of tracks came together in a couple of months. We couldn't wait to get to the studio every day to finish the next song."
Davis explained the song's meaning to Billboard magazine: "It's just me noticing at the time that chaos does live in everything. There's drama everywhere."
