Tory Lanez recorded "The Take" for Chixtape 5, an album where every track contains a sample of a 2000s-era R&B hit. Each time it includes the original artist featured on the song. This sultry tune samples Chris Brown's 2007 loverman jam "Take You Down."

This banger incorporates the same message as Chris Brown's original; both artists want some bedroom action with a lady.

The two artists are frequent collaborators; this is Lanez's third hookup in 2019 with Brown following his features on the Indigo tracks "Lurkin'" and "Tell Me How You Feel."
