Best known as the director of such cult films as Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive and the cult TV series Twin Peaks, David Lynch likes also to dip his toe into musical waters. He told Q magazine about this piece of early-'90s-inspired trance pop: "I was catching a little tune in my head. I have a studio so I went down and started playing it on the piano. Lo and behold, it came out."
Other forays into music by Lynch include writing the lyrics for Julee Cruise's first two albums, a 2001 rock album, Blue Bob and contributing the vocals and artwork to the Danger Mouse/Sparklehouse collaboration Dark Night Of The Soul. "My singing voice is pretty bad," the Twin Peaks director admitted to Q. "Maybe with a certain vibe… I don't know. I'll leave that to the listener."
"I'm not a musician," he added. "I started playing the guitar to make sound effects and then it kind of evolved into more musical things. So I play things but not in a traditional way."
