"This probably shouldn't get out there, but, 'Simple and Sure' was like, 'Let's just take OutKast's 'Hey Ya!' and mix it with My Bloody Valentine, and that will be the perfect sound," he told Spin magazine. "That's shorthand for saying that we wanted something that sounded really fresh and snappy and pop," he added. "Not superficially pop, just not drenched in reverb or guitar atmospherics."
