Rag'n'Bone Man recruited Pink to duet with him on this tender ballad. The pair trade soulful verses where they reflect on how they've changed for the worse since their free-spirited youth. Rag'n'Bone Man released the song as the second single from Life by Misadventure on April 9, 2021.
The song starts off with Rag'n'Bone Man recalling their uninhibited younger days when he and Pink were "wild and running" and feared nothing. Pink enters a third of the way through with a verse in which she laments how they "sold their souls" and now feels discontented and out of place. During the chorus, both artists express misgivings with their life now and their desire to disappear, "somewhere else, anywhere away from here."
Rag'n'Bone Man wrote "Anywhere Away From Here" with his musical director, Ben Jackson-Cook, along with Simon Aldred, Mark Crew and Dan Priddy. "This song is an honest reflection of wanting to disappear from uncomfortable situations - about the vulnerabilities that we all face," he said.
