Here, Joji entreats his romantic interest to show him affection. He highlights the pain his lover causes when she doesn't do so.
The song starts off as a feverish pop production by Joji himself, laced with shuffling beats and R&B harmonies. At 1:40 mark, it shifts in tone and builds towards an orchestral arrangement produced by the singer in collaboration with Bekon (Kendrick Lamar) and Rappy (Rich Brian). "Back in the day, I feel like you had a favorite part of a song, and now that's not really a thing anymore," Joji explained to Billboard's Chelsea Briggs. "So I thought it would just be nice to kind of have a song that's long and in two parts."
Joji directed the accompanying video with Andrew Donoho (Khalid, Janelle Monaé, The Strokes). The disorientating clip depicts Joji as a mad scientist working his way up the ranks before attempting to escape Earth.
