Take Me Down

The lead single from Who Are You Selling For, this track finds frontwoman Taylor Momsen in the same position as legendary bluesman Robert Johnson: at the crossroads. She explained the song's meaning to Kerrang!: "It's a classic rock 'n' roll tune, which was inspired by the Robert Johnson story of going to the crossroads and selling his soul for rock 'n' roll – which I kind of did in one way (laughs). I gave my music to the music. I gave everything else up for it. And it's a simple story about giving your life to something you love so much and you need it so bad that you're willing to sell your soul for it."

The performance video was shot in black and white with subtle glimpses of blood red in the background. It was directed by Meiert Avis, who has also helmed visuals for artists such as Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, U2 and Avril Lavigne. The clip was shot at Water Music Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the Who Are You Selling For album was recorded.

The Pretty Reckless became the first act to send its first four entries to the top of Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart when this reached #1 on the tally. The band's previous three leaders were "Heaven Knows," "Messed Up World (F'd Up World)" and "Follow Me Down."
