Here, David Draiman talks about how the people in power try to justify killing each other. No more defending the lies Behind the never-ending war It's time to make them realize We will no longer be their whore Speaking to Metal Hammer about the inspiration for the song, Draiman said: "There's always someone we have to fear, there's always another battle we have to go and fight, and they continue to profit off it. So it's just encouraging people to see through the narrative. And it's a narrative that is not unique to any one country on this planet. There are fear-mongers everywhere, and there's a massive machine out there, whose wheels continue to turn over the bodies of the innocent." The singer added that he wasn't pointing the finger at any specific administration. Rather, fearmongers have been provoking war since the beginning of time.
The song was released as the third single from Evolution on June 2, 2019. It was Disturbed's seventh straight #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, a run that started with Immortalized's lead single "The Vengeful One" in 2015.
The album title represents the nu metal band's evolution as musicians and songwriters over the course of more than two decades. They explained ahead of the release: "This record is truly unique, and very special to us, and we can only hope that upon listening to it, that the world will feel the same. The record showcases the most adventurous and eclectic combination of musical styles and moods that we’ve ever attempted in our careers. Each song truly has its own identity, feel, and power."
