In Rammstein's home country, The Federal Office for the Examination of Media Harmful to Young People banned Liebe ist Für Alle Da from public display in German stores on account of its depictions of sadism/masochism. Because of the ruling only adults were allowed to purchase the album, additionally, it was not allowed to be displayed in stores where minors have access. As well as the cover showing guitarist Richard Kruspe with a naked, masked woman on his knees., Petra Meier, the deputy president of the Federal Office department, cited this track objecting to such lines such as "Bites, kicks, heavy blows, nails, pincers, blunt saws - Tell me what you want." The office also criticised the single "Pussy," which they stated would encourage unprotected sex, leading to an increase in the number of AIDS cases. In response the band's record company confirmed that they would re-release Liebe ist Für Alle Da in Germany without the offending artwork and this track.
The ban was lifted in June 2010 after a legal battle against the German government. The court ruled that the song does not contain detailed or real description of violence, rather only "a surrealistic hint at violence."
