Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about The Isle Of Arran. By Songfacts®.

Benjamin Coyle-Larner is a rapper from South London who records under the stage name Loyle Carner. His performing moniker is a spoonerism of his double-barreled surname.

The song title refers to island in Scotland's Firth of Clyde, which is known for its beautiful mountainous scenery. Carner explained to BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac: "I spent a lot of time there. It's where my granddad grew up, it a little island off the top of Scotland and there's not much to do there. It's a very long journey (from London) but it's beautiful, it's secluded." We suspect that geography is not Carner's strong point. The Isle of Arran actually lies to the west of Scotland, not off its "top."
