Rod Wave recorded the song for his third studio album, SoulFly. The record spans 19 tracks, with only this cut featuring another artist. Wave told The Breakfast Club he originally didn't plan to have any guest appearances on the album, but after a chance meeting with Polo G at a jewelry store, he learned that the Chicago rapper is a fan of his work, and changed his mind. Rod Wave's previous album, Pray 4 Love, also had only one guest artist: ATR Son Son on "Rags2Riches."
Rod Wave and Polo G wrote the song with the track's producers. They are: PlutoBrazy, who is known for his work with Toosii. He also co-produced the Soulfly track "Pills & Billz." Beats By Flynn, for whom this is his first placement with a major artist.
