Anne-Marie and Niall Horan wrote the song with Phil Plested (Little Mix's "Touch," Lewis Capaldi's "Before You Go") and the producers TMS. London-based songwriting and record production team TMS comprise Tom "Froe" Barnes, Ben Kohn and Peter "Merf" Kelleher. They previously worked with Anne-Marie on her Speak Your Mind track "Can I Get Your Number" and Niall Horan on his Flicker cut "On My Own."
Speaking on the Make It Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Anne-Marie said Horan picked up his guitar as soon as they arrived at the studio and the first thing he played was this track. After he moved to the piano, she thought, now he's showing off. "I can't play an instrument," Anne-Marie said, "and he was just going around the whole studio."
