Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about I Want to Write You a Song. By Songfacts®.

This was written by regular 1D producers Julian Bunetta and John Ryan with American songwriter Ammar Malik, whose other credits include "Moves Like Jagger," "Payphone" and "Stereo Hearts."

Liam Payne's voice sounds unusually gravelly here. He said during the Made in the A.M. First Listen event that the track was recorded in Chicago at four in the morning and his voice "sounded really, really bad," but it somehow worked.

This is Liam Payne's favorite song on Made in the A.M. Liam explained on a Vevo video that he especially likes this because, "it's the kind of song that I've always wanted to write for somebody. The funny thing about it is that I've never managed to write that song yet." "The whole idea of the song is about writing a song which is so ironic and I think that's what makes it really cool," he continued. "It's so simple but then in the background they have the writing noise of the pencil and the paper which I think is really cool."
