Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Teardrops. By Songfacts®.

Here, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes talks about his troubling mental state. All that is going on inside his head is stressing and saddening him to the extent that he's "running outta teardrops." The singer lays the blame of depression (his and others') at the door of social media and news addiction. His generation is being force fed so much negative information and disturbing images, their hearts are going numb.

Sykes directed, edited and starred in the accompanying video, which represents his struggles with his mental health and drug abuse. The frontman overcame his problems because of the support and friendship of his Bring Me The Horizon bandmates. A press release states that he "draws on his personal relationship with depression channeling it into the visual representation of him drowning, which saw him spend a full day in an underwater tank when filming."

Bring Me The Horizon's 2015 album That's The Spirit has a theme running through it of the burden of melancholy. Sykes especially focuses on the topic of depression on the tracks "Doomed," and "Happy Song."
