This was Memphis, Tennessee rapper Snootie Wild's breakout hit. His hometown station, KXHT, first played the song on July 2, 2013, and it caught the attention of fellow Memphis-based rapper Yo Gotti, who remixed the cut, adding an additional verse for his mixtape Nov 19th: The Mixtape. On October 28, 2013, it was announced Snootie had signed to Yo Gotti's Cocaine Muzik Group, a subsidiary of Epic Records. Gotti then took Snootie on the road for his 40-date I Am national tour.
Yayo is a slang word for cocaine. It's an alternative version of llello, which The Sopranos' Tony used as a slang for the white powder. This song finds Snootie rapping about making a living through cocaine.
Snootie recruited T.I. for a remix in 2014 and a few months later the rapper recruited Fabolous, Jadakiss, YG and French Montana for a second star-studded remix.
