Opening up with a blunt "I hate you for what did," this grungy diss track finds Phoebe Bridgers laying into her former partner and collaborator Ryan Adams. Eighteen months later, the story behind the song really hit home when Bridgers boldly spoke out about Adams to the New York Times. The article detailed numerous allegations of his coercive control, describing the singer as physically, sexually, and emotionally abusive. Bridgers was one of several women who accused Adams of offering to jumpstart their music careers, then pursuing them sexually. Adams denied the claims.
