Over a bass-heavy beat, Pop Smoke raps braggadocios lyrics about his opulent and gangsta lifestyle. The song title stands for Audemars Piguet, who is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury mechanical watches.
The drill track first originated as a collaboration with Rich the Kid, who teased his verse and Pop Smoke's chorus in April 2020. By the time Victor Victor released it as a single on February 24, 2021, Rich the Kid's contribution had been removed.
The song features on the soundtrack to the movie Boogie, which tells the coming-of-age story of Queens basketball prodigy Alfred "Boogie" Chin, who dreams of one day playing in the NBA. Pop Smoke, making his debut film appearance, plays the character Monk, a slick-talking hooper who is Boogie's on-court rival. Tragically, the rapper never got to see the completed film as he was killed in a shooting in February 2020.
