Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Golden Days. By Songfacts®.

Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie wasn't even 30 when this song was released, but he was still looking back on the golden days with a tinge of wistful nostalgia. It's written as if looking back on the life of someone older whose golden days were the 1970s, a time of Polaroid pictures and Farrah Fawcett posters. It's a reminder that his time is now, so it's important to make the most of it and create some memories that are worth revisiting: Right now our future's certain I won't let it fade away

Urie wrote this song with Sam Hollander and Jake Sinclair, who also produced it with Suzy Shinn. Hollander is about 15 years older than Urie, with different nostalgic touchstones. He helped create the bombastic sounds of Cobra Starship and Metro Station before connecting with Urie; his other Death Of A Bachelor contributions are "Emperor's New Clothes," "Crazy=Genius" and "Impossible Year." Sinclair has writing or production credits on every song on the album.

Sam Hollander put some Easter Eggs in the lyrics. He explained to Songfacts: "'Golden Days' by Panic has some fun imagery in it. Some of the stuff I put in there was was a reference to my mom's years in New York working with Andy Warhol. So there's some personal stuff in there about being a kid and being on the outskirts of that and some old photos I found lying around the house."
