"Make Me Want To" is a romantic romp where Jimmie Allen locks eyes with an attractive girl. The feeling is mutual and the pair sneak out to her car where they get intimate. "'Make Me Want To' is really just about a song about someone having feelings, catching 'em fast and not being ashamed to say [so]," Allen explained to ABC Radio. "I think being being vulnerable is cool." "And, you know, when you have feelings for someone else, or when you want to be with them, tell 'em," he added. "That's really what the song is."
Allen wrote the sultry lyrics with: Nashville singer-songwriter Paul Sikes, who released his debut album Craft: by Paul Sikes in 2012. His other songwriting credits include Matt Stell's "Everywhere But On" and Olivia Lane's "The Cape." Songwriter Jennifer Denmark, who has co-penned several of Kelsea Ballerini's tunes, including "Sirens" and "Music."
For the song's music video, Jimmie Allen wanted to showcase his love for Disney, Harry Potter and The Notebook. He told CMT: "I feel like authenticity is celebrated today more than ever, so with this video, I really wanted to highlight my quirky side."
