Since breaking through with their "Cruise" single in 2012, Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have promoted an "anything goes" attitude to their music-making, incorporating rock and hip-hop elements into their country tunes. This Felix McTeigue, Chris Tompkins and Craig Wiseman penned song reflects their open-minded approach. It's "setting the standard of no rules," Hubbard explained to Today.
The song's opening line - "Alabama on the boom box, baby" is one of two Alabama name-checks on the Anything Goes album. In addition, Hubbard and Kelley referenced the Country Music Hall of Fame band on the song they co-penned for Jason Aldean, "Burnin' It Down."
The song came to FGL around the time they were releasing their debut album Here's to the Good Times, so it had to wait two years before the duo cut it for their sophomore album. "We had been bumpin' that demo for so long, just fell in love with it. It was different, it was fresh, it was going to set the tone for this record," Kelley explained to Radio.com. "Throughout every song meeting it kept making it to the top of the list. It was a brand thing for us." "It's just been the way we approach writing, our live show: 'Hey, anything goes. There's no rules. Let's make it as much fun as we can," he continued. "A little weird here, a little crazy here.' That's our life; anything goes. It is just a bold statement of 'Hey, let's have a good time on tour.'"
