The song features production by frequent Justin Bieber collaborator BloodPop, whose credits for the Canadian star include the hit singles "Sorry" and "Friends." Hailee Steinfeld told Billboard: "One thing I love about the production in this song is that it feels big. It feels very cinematic. I love that feel, especially as an actor. I feel like music has the power to feel like a movie itself in the two minutes that you hear it."
The lyrics were co-written by Ellie Goulding who also recorded a new version of her smash hit "Love Me Like You Do" for the soundtrack.
