This heart-rending tale of a love that once was is the third single from Irish band The Script's second album, Science & Faith. The song was written by Script members Mark Sheehan and Danny O'Donoghue, plus Steve Kipner (Christina Aquilera, David Archuleta) and Andrew Frampton (Kylie Minogue, Natasha Bedingfield). Apart from penning and producing all the album, the four songwriters also composed "Written All Over My Face" for the 2009 American Idol winner Kris Allen's self-titled debut major studio album.
The song finds its protagonist retaining a secret hope that his lost love will return. In an interview with iVillage UK, Script member Glen Power was asked if they are a band of romantics. He replied: "The song's also reflective of us on the road, away from home and our families. But I do think creative people, in general, are romantic by nature."
