Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about nihilist blues (feat. Grimes). By Songfacts®.

Speaking to Kerrang!, keyboardist Jordan Fish said the song "Nihilist Blues" was very different in its sound to the band's usual material. He explained it was an example of them really going for it. "It's like this dark rave song or something – it's absolutely mental, and it might be my favorite on the whole album," Fish said.

The song features the Canadian pop artist Grimes, whom the band hooked up with while recording Amo in Los Angeles. Regarding working with the musician, Fish said: "She loved the song. She actually sent it back with all these added elements which we weren't expecting, but she's super creative and she'd completely gone to town on it. That elevated the song to a whole new level. She's someone we respect, and not really someone you'd expect to find working with a metal band. Or a rock band. Or whatever it is we are."

Bring Me the Horizon debuted the song live during their concert at CFE Arena, Orlando, Florida on January 25, 2019. It was the same day that Amo was released, so the track was new to most of the crowd. Sykes told Kerrang: "It's always a little scary introducing songs like that, that are completely different for us. It's like, 'How do we rock out to this? What do we do?'"
