Barns Courtney is a British born, Seattle-reared singer-songwriter. After fronting the rock bands SleeperCell and Dive Bella Dive, Courtney pursued a career as a singer/songwriter opening for such artists as Ed Sheeran.
This song was featured in the 2015 Bradley Cooper movie Burnt. It went on to receive airplay on American rock radio in 2016, reaching the Top 3 of Billboard's Adult album alternative chart.
Courtney wrote this song after being dropped by a record label. "'Fire,' I wrote as an appeal to myself to remember why I got into music and what it was all about and to hold on to whatever that spark was," he explained to Radio.com. "It's quite defiant as well, like this cannot be how it ends, it cannot be my situation."
