Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Don't Wanna Go Home. By Songfacts®.

The first single by American R&B singer Jason Derülo, from his second studio album, Future History, samples Robin S's "Show Me Love" and features an interpolation of "Day-O(The Banana Boat Song)."

DeRulo explained the song's message to MTV News: "I wanted to write a song that people could escape their problems, their pain, their turmoil, and by doing a feel-good song, I'm doing just that. You don't have to write a song about saving the world to do just that. We created this new age party-smasher."

The Rich Lee directed video features DeRulo throwing a dance party. "I'm very hands on with everything that I do, and I wrote 'Don't Wanna Go Home,' and I wanted to write a video right after I finished doing the song 'cause I actually saw it [in my mind], what this video is about," he told MTV News. "Basically, [it's] not about going to the club, [it's about] never leaving the club."

He continued: "This one was very vivid for me. I wrote a treatment and Rich Lee took my treatment and expanded upon it. I'm through the roof. You'll see a lot: more dancing, a lot more sex appeal. We're taking it there."
