"Don't Cry" details Bugzy Malone's near-fatal quad bike accident in Bury, Manchester. On March 26, 2020, the rapper crashed his Can-Am Spyder F3 into a car at 70 mph, leaving him seriously injured. Footage of him lying on the ground in the collision's aftermath later circulated on social media. He subsequently suffered a brain bleed, leaving his life hanging by a thread. Didn't think I would survive my injuries Didn't think the almighty would intervene Bugzy admits it was literally a miracle he lived to tell the tale.

Bugzy Malone previously recounted the story of his accident and subsequent recovery in hospital on the track "M.E.N III."

The Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy joins Bugzy Malone on the track. The song marks Kennedy's first time working with a rapper for a single; four weeks earlier, he released "Paradise," a hookup with artist-producers Meduza.
