Degausser

A Degausser is a device that de-magnetizes an object, commonly used to erase magnetic tape and film. Brand New lead singer Jesse Lacey has given various accounts of the song at concerts, sometimes saying, "this song is about magnets," and explaining what a degausser actually does. He has also said, "this song is about De Loreans" and "this song is about the beginning of the end of the world." Lacey also said that the line "take apart the demon in the attic to the left" was taken almost directly from a song by Roky Erickson.
