This heartbreak song finds Kehlani singing of her regret in giving her heart to a dishonest lover. However, in the chorus she admits to still missing their relationship and being tempted to contact them.

Kehlani implies that this lover is female during the bridge and outro. The singer has publicly identified as queer and pansexual in the past and previously sang of a lesbian relationship on her 2017 single "Honey."
