Both sad and inspiring, this song was born out of the death by suicide of Linkin Park's Chester Bennington in 2017. Skillet singer John Cooper took the demise of Bennington really hard, as he loved the band. Reading about Bennington's life and the things he was struggling with spurred Cooper to write a song for his fans that are suffering with depression. The Skillet frontman explained to NewReleaseToday that he wanted to tell people going through the things that Chester went through, that they are not alone. "With depression, anxiety, and there are certain things I can relate to," Cooper explained. "But, I cannot relate to the levels of that and not wanting to live. I can't relate to that. But, I want to say something to those people like, 'yes, I hear you, I see you, I know life is hard, but you can make it.' That is what the song 'Victorious' is all about."
