Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Angels Like You. By Songfacts®.

Here, Miley Cyrus is addressing a romantic interest, giving them a warning that she's about to walk out on their relationship. The singer admits the fault lies with herself, as she's not into commitment and as soon as a romance gets serious she presses the self-destruct button.

The title of this you're-too-good-for-me song alludes to Cyrus admitting her lover is a better person than her. It's not your fault I ruin everything And it's not your fault I can't be what you need Baby, angels like you can't fly down here with me Cyrus sees herself as a fallen angel roaming around down in Hell; she is totally wrong for her angelic lover up in Heaven.

Many of the tracks on Plastic Hearts find Cyrus taking an unapologetic, cold-blooded view of romance, but here she's showing some regret. In apologizing to her lover for breaking their heart in advance, she's doing her best to soften the blow. Speaking to Apple Music, Cyrus said: "This song is saying - there is like some remorse to it - all these things should add up on paper to 'You're the one for me,' but I know that you're wrong for me. Maybe it's part of being someone that thrives in chaos or some sort of conflict with creativity."
