Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about In The Garage. By Songfacts®.

It sounds like Rivers Cuomo, Weezer's lead singer, spent much of his teenage years in the garage. He could have been a bit self-conscious about performing his music in public, and he describes his garage as a safe place where he keeps some of his belongings: "I've got posters on the wall, my favorite rock group Kiss." His garage was probably a place where he could get away from it all and just write, play music, or just ponder life. It could be that Rivers didn't think Weezer would become this big, that maybe they would just be a regular garage band.

There is fuzz bass effect on this track, which is not typical of the album, but helped give the song a garage rock sound to keep with the theme.

Address of the garage: 2226 Amherst Avenue, West Los Angeles, California. The band moved into this place in April 1992, where its 1-car garage/laundry room was converted into a practice and demo recording spot. The landlords in the main house were rightfully confused, having been told the guys were UCLA film students.
