Body Electric

Del Rey has cited the poetry of Walt Whitman as a major inspirations to her on several occasions and this song's title is a direct reference to his 1855 poem I Sing The Body Electric. Del Rey also alludes to the poet in the lyric, "Whitman is my daddy."

Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford's showcase song at the end of the 1980 movie Fame also namechecks Whitman's I Sing The Body Electric in its title.
