This song draws lyrical inspiration from the ancient astronaut hypothesis, through viewing the Ancient Aliens television program and a book about the subject. Frontman Chuck Billy explained to Metal Hammer: "We got fascinated by a show called Ancient Aliens, which is all about these theories to do with aliens and religion, and I found this book called Brotherhood Of The Snake. It's about this secret society from thousands of years ago that were formed to debunk religion, it's saying there is an alien race that is using humans as slaves and mine us for minerals."
This was the first song written for Brotherhood of the Snake. At first Testament planned to pen a whole album about the topic, but decided they couldn't continue to write about ancient astronaut hypothesis, so it just became a jumping off point for the rest of the record.
