No Drama (feat. Offset)

Tinashe tells us she doesn't have any time for drama on this sultry R&B track. Said I'm fallin' off, but they won't JFK me Tried to be myself, but they won't AKA me AKA a popstar AKA a problem AKA don't hold me back, I swear I got 'em Tinashe explained in a Genius attribution: "'No Drama' is just kind of a bossy song. I really wanted to come with some attitude. I wanted to say something that meant something. I think the past few years that I've been working on this project has been a lot of feeling like I have to prove myself and continuing to push against adversity. That's kind of really what this song is about."

Tinashe teams up with Migos' Offset, who spits a verse about jet-setting and getting high, as well as his signature ad-libs. "This song has a lot of energy, so I thought whoever was gonna rap on it had to have a lot of energy," explained Tinashe. "And who has more energy than Offset? He has amazing ad libs. I was like, that would be perfect for this song. I think the day that I cut it, I was like, 'We gotta get Offset.' The producers were like, 'Really?' And I was like, 'Yes.' We made it happen. So, that's awesome."

The fierce beat is courtesy of the Norwegian record producing and songwriting team Stargate, who have also worked with Rihanna and Katy Perry. Tinashe recalled how the song came together: "It was a great day. The day that this song was written, I went to Stargate. They're the producers. They have this crazy house in Santa Monica. Multiple floors and all these crazy studios. I went over to their spot, and they had a reference track for this song. I heard it, and I felt like this beat was really hard. Like this energy is super good. So, then I took it and kind of rewrote it. Made it feel more like me, cut it, then it was like a sunny day."
