Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller's first entry on the Hot 100 was this cut from his sixth mixtape Best Day Ever. It peaked at #79 and racked up over 20 million plays on YouTube, an impressive feat for a song that didn't receive major radio airplay.
The song title references Donald Trump, at the time known as a business magnate who became a national celebrity through hosting the NBC reality show The Apprentice. Trump acknowledged the tune and its video on his own YouTube clip. "A lot of people are calling me about the Mac Miller rap song," Trump explained. "It's named 'Donald Trump.' Maybe he should pay me a lotta money, but it just hit over 20 million. 20 million people tuning into Mac Miller!"Trump continued, admitting that he hadn't actually heard the song. "I haven't actually seen the language, it's a little bit hard to understand on the song itself," he said. "Probably it's not the cleanest language we've ever heard, but this kid is the new Eminem, everybody says he's fantastic."
Trump was initially supportive of Miller using his name for the song, but in early 2013 he changed his tune. "Little @MacMiller, you illegally used my name for your song 'Donald Trump' which now has over 75 million hits," Trump tweeted. He continued: "Little @MacMiller, I want the money not the plaque you gave me!"
