Corona (Italian for Crown) is an Italian studio creation of Brazilian-born singer and model Olga Souza and producer Francesco "Checco" Bontempi. This song, released as their first single in Italy, features the voice of Italian singer Jenny B. A huge hit in Corona's native country, it topped the charts for eight weeks.
A remixed version of the song peaked at #2 in the UK in September 1994 and #11 in the US the following year.
The more photogenic Olga Souza posed as the singer in the music video. Jenny B wasn't the first vocalist whitewashed in favor of a model. Martha Wash sung on C+C Music Factory's chart-topper "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" plus three #1 Dance hits for Black Box, and in each instance a model was used to lip-sync the songs for the videos.
