"In My Feelings" finds Drake pouring out his heart to some of his old flames, including Oakland, California model and social media personality K'yanna Barber. Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding? Say you'll never ever leave from beside me Many fans and media outlets initially identified Kiki as Keshia Chanté, Drake's first girlfriend in Toronto. However, a credible source has since stated that Drake is actually referencing K'yanna Barber, whom was seen together with Drake by gossip outlets several times in 2017. The connection to Barber makes sense as her name ties in with Drake's use of the initials "KB". Although Barber has not directly acknowledged that she's the Kiki Drake is talking about, she did tweet out the lyrics referencing her initials on July 8, 2018.

In the second part of the chorus, Drake shouts out "Resha" and "J.T." from the Miami rap female duo City Girls, who also provide vocals on the song's breakdown. J.T. and Yung Miami (her real name is Caresha) first came to prominence when their debut single "F--- Dat Ni--a" earned a surprise placement on Quality Control's compilation Control The Streets Vol 1.

The song features production from: Drake's frequent collaborator and right hand man Noah "40" Shebib. Cleveland-based producer TrapMoneyBenny, who has also worked with Chief Keef, 21 Savage and Gucci Mane. This was his first credit on a Drake tune. New Orleans producer BlaqNmilD, who has been a driving force behind the bounce scene for years. He also worked on Drake's hit single "Nice For What."
