This heartbreaking piano-led ballad finds a vulnerable Jorja Smith singing of being enraptured by a guy whose priorities don't include her. Sometimes, I wouldn't mind if I was less important Would you think about them all the time? Wonder if you'll even notice in the morning So where'd you go when you can't get to me Smith explained: "'Let Me Down' is about meaning very little to someone, but being okay with that, even though it hurts."
Jorja Smith wrote the slow-paced song with London-based producer Ed Thomas, who has previously worked with drum and bass duo Chase & Status ("Blk & Blu") and electronic music duo Bondax ("Giving It All").
The song also features some rhymes by Stormzy. Smith told Beats 1's Zane Lowe how the collaboration came about. "I was in the studio with Ed [Thomas], and he was playing the chords on the piano, and I was singing, and Stormzy kind of drifted in and out – that's kind of what he does on the verse," she said. "He literally floated onto the track and I feel like that's how it sounds as well."
