Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Blue Skies. By Songfacts®.

This anthemic song was the first single to be taken from English indie folk band Noah and the Whale's second album, The First Days of Spring.

This songs opens with the lyric, "This is a song for anyone with a broken heart, this is a song for anyone who can't get out of bed." It captures the essence of the album, which is about the demise of frontman Charlie Fink's relationship with former band member turned singer-songwriter Laura Marling. Their affair ended with her dumping him, and much of The First Days of Spring tells how Fink's love for Marling clinged long after she'd finished the relationship and of his effort to shake it off. This optimistic track is near the end of the album, by which time Fink was beginning to move on.
