This song is about anger: bottling it up until you explode, at which point you are unable to control it.
The song deals with lead singer Adam Gontier's addiction to pain killers and how after a while he couldn't control his addiction.
Three Days Grace wrote the song as a demo while on a bus in Germany in 2004. "I remember saying [that] that riff would be great heavy," bassist Brad Walst recalled to Billboard. "As soon as we got back to North America, we started jamming it as a heavy song, and it was like, 'S--t, I think we've nailed it.'"
