This song tells the age-old tale of missing an ex after a breakup. Released on October 9, 2020, the lyrics take on a new meaning in the wake of the Covid-19 lockdown. Said Jax Jones: "We all miss something right now and I Miss U is supposed to highlight that and remind ourselves that it's OK to feel this way sometimes."
The song features vocals by Antiguan/German singer-songwriter Au/Ra, who is best known for her 2018 hit "Panic Room." Au/Ra follows a long line of female vocalists who have featured on Jax Jones' tracks. They include Raye, Ira Wroldsen, Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don, Mabel and Ella Henderson.
Jax Jones' beats for "I Miss U" are colder compared to his usual dance pop tracks. The producer said it "takes it back to my roots with the signature Jax Jones club sound. As much as I love my upbeat dance pop records, it's fun to mix some melancholy in now and again."
