Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Your Song. By Songfacts®.

This bouncy ode to love may not be an Elton John cover, but it was written by another superstar. Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora have been friends since they were both in their teens, so it was only natural that he should pen the lead single of her second album. Ora explained to Nick Grimshaw on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show how it came about: Ed asked me to come to a show cause he was doing this big world tour and I said, 'Mate, I'd love to come but I'm wrapping up my album and I have to finish it. I explained it was song based - I feel great and content and more excited than I've ever been about my music and I'd like my friends to get involved. "He said, 'Lucky you said that, because I just wrote this the other day,' and he emailed it and I heard it and thought, 'This is such an amazing record.'"

Ed Sheeran collaborated with his "Shape Of You" production partner Steve Mac on the tune. Ora said: "'Your Song' has everything I wanted to express: it's a song that's full of positivity and about feeling on top of the world, like everything is going right and that's where my life is right now."
