Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Come on Over. By Songfacts®.

Vocalist Mike Kerr wrote this anthem about leaving the Christian faith that he'd been brought up in. It finds him singing, "There's no God and I don't really care." "That was probably something I said in an argument," he told NME. "Running away from the church was quite a big deal at the time to my friends and family. It was a personal decision based on my experience of it and how I felt about the philosophy of it." "Having grown up in that and it being all I knew and then going into the real world," Kerr added, "(the song) was about leaving that."

Mike Kerr had the lyrics for several years before recording it for the Royal Blood album. He used to play the tune on an acoustic guitar with one of his old bands. Kerr told Drowned in Sound: "That was actually one of the ideas I took to Ben (Thatcher, drums) the first time we met up to play, and it very quickly turned into what it sounds like now. So it was probably the most written song we had before it became a Royal Blood thing."
